Support for the Baroque Weeks at the Musikdorf Ernen Festival
In the heart of Upper Valais, the village of Ernen becomes the setting for an exceptional musical event every summer. From 17 to 31 July 2026, the Baroque Weeks of the Musikdorf Ernen Festival invite the public on a journey through the centuries, in a sensitive dialogue between heritage, interpretation and creativity.
In the intimate setting of Ernen Church – a 16th-century building with richly carved Baroque altars – the music takes on a unique dimension. Works from the 17th and 18th centuries regain their original resonance here, carried by the warmth of period instruments and the enveloping acoustics of this historic venue.
Supported by the Etrillard Foundation, these Baroque Weeks contribute to the rediscovery of repertoires that have sometimes been forgotten, revealing the full richness and diversity of a living musical heritage.
At the heart of this venture, the Aernen Barock ensemble brings together musicians from Europe’s leading ensembles specialising in early music practices. Together, they explore rare, and sometimes previously unperformed, works with an artistic rigour matched by a genuine commitment to passing on this heritage.
