ECAL students' glass art on show in Venice

Saturday 9 September will see the opening of the exhibition El Arte del Vetro Grezzo (The Art of Raw Glass) at the Fondazione dell'Albero d'Oro in Venice, on the occasion of The Venice Glass Week 2023.

This exhibition presents a selection of works designed by the students of the Master's programme in Design for Luxury & Craftsmanship at ECAL/University of Art and Design Lausanne, reinterpreting the ancient techniques of the Venetian master glassmakers.

On the ground floor of the Palazzo Vendramin Grimani, the Fondazione dell'Albero d'Oro, in collaboration with the Fondation Etrillard and Swiss manufacturer ALCO, is hosting works created by five students during a research project on Murano glass, under the artistic direction of designer Ini Archibong.

These creative compositions, made from raw materials, feature glass rods, slabs or blocks, produced in Murano using specific processes handed down from generation to generation.
