Chelsea Marilyn Zurflüh winner of the Special Prize at Concours de Genève

On Tuesday 22 October, on the stage of Grand Théâtre de Genève, the 28-year-old Swiss soprano Chelsea Marilyn Zurflüh won both the First Prize in the Singing Competition and the "Fondation Etrillard" Special Prize.

Her luminous interpretation of three virtuoso pieces, Cleopatra's aria ‘Da tempeste il legno infranto’ from Handel's Giulio Cesare, Pamina's aria ‘Ach, ich fühl's’ from Mozart's The Magic Flute, and Linda di Chamounix's aria from Donizetti's opera, won her praise from the Jury and the audience. 

The Foundation's President came on stage to present her with the Foundation's Special Prize for the best personal artistic project among the finalists. 

Who is Chelsea Marilyn Zurflüh?

Chelsea Marilyn Zurflüh grew up in Perles (Pieterlen) in the canton of Bern, Switzerland. From the 2021 to the 2023 season, she was a member of the International Opera Studio in Zurich and has already appeared at the opera house as Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro, Zaida in Il Turco in Italia and Atalanta in Serse. Other engagements have taken her to the Konzerthaus in Vienna and the Tonhalle in Zurich. Chelsea has won numerous singing competitions. She won First Prize in the Haydn International Competition in 2024, Second Prize in the Salzburg International Mozart Competition in 2023 and Second Prize and Audience Prize in the prestigious Antonio Cesti Competition in Innsbruck, Austria in 2022.
