Miguel Perez de Guzman invited to talk at the 85th Sponsoring Thursday

Miguel Pérez de Guzmán, Managing Director of the Fondation Etrillard, was invited on Thursday 19 December 2024 to speak at the 85th Jeudi du mécénat (Sponsoring Thursday), organised by the French Ministry of Culture. This morning of meetings and debates, organised in the Salon d'Honneur at La Monnaie de Paris, highlighted sponsorship for the preservation of craftmanship, one of the Foundation's key areas of focus.

Miguel Pérez de Guzmán spoke at the second round table, entitled ‘Arts and crafts: from creation to distribution’. He presented two of the Foundation's major craft projects, which are unique in that they offer apprentice or established craftspeople the opportunity to draw inspiration from a piece in its art collection to create a unique work. Firstly, the ‘Collection source d'inspiration’ educational programme, launched in 2022, aimed at students at the École Boulle in Paris. Then, since 2023, the ‘Âmes d'Œuvres’ Craft Competition, whose first winner Louis Monier was unveiled in the autumn.

His words echoed those of prestigious guests: Marie-Claire Janailhac-Fritsch, President of the Fondation pour la Comédie-Française, Catherine Monlouis-Félicité, Director of Cultural Development at La Monnaie de Paris, Martine Tremblay, Director of the Fondation Banque Populaire, and Muriel Austerlitz, Head of Partnerships at Sèvres - Manufacture et Musée nationaux. They all spoke of the public's renewed interest in the arts and crafts, their major economic importance in France, and the need to educate and train future generations in these unique skills.

The Fondation Etrillard took part in the previous Sponsoring Thursday in May 2024, on the theme of nature and creation in relation to the living world.
