The ‘Très Riches Heures du duc de Berry’ undergoing restoration

In 2023, the Château de Chantilly launched a major restoration and analysis project for the famous book of hours, preciously preserved in the reserves of the Condé Museum. After a state-of-the-art analysis of its pages at the C2RMF laboratories at the Louvre, the manuscript has passed through the expert hands of several restorers, in particular to consolidate the body of the work, before the restoration of the binding itself, in the coming months.

At the end of February, all the miniatures of the calendar and the diptych of the Three Wise Men had been stabilised. The repair of the notebooks is continuing at the same time as the flattening of the double sheets, in preparation for the major exhibition devoted to the Très Riches Heures, which will open on Saturday 7 June at the Château de Chantilly.
