Keen to preserve the universality of European music, the Etrillard Foundation has decided to support the Royaumont Foundation in giving new prominence to medieval music. This project is based on the promotion of research through the contribution of new technologies, the training of artists in performance, and a wider dissemination of this music to the public.
An essential aspect of the program supported by the Etrillard Foundation concerns professional training workshops in medieval vocal practice. Indeed, these workshops are jointly based on the study of sources conducted by specialists in medieval repertoire and on the digital transcription of these repertoires. Thus, new technologies enable the transmission of this early music, which echoes the Foundation’s mission.
Regarding the dissemination component, several concerts were organized in France (Royaumont Abbey, Fontfroide Abbey), Switzerland (Temple of Saint Gervais in Geneva), and Italy (Spello), in order to share the fruits of this work with the public.
Through this contribution, the Etrillard Foundation participates in the rediscovery of a little-known repertoire and joins forces with several Swiss and European partners, including the Geneva University of Music, the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, the Centro Studi Adolfo Broegg in Spello, and the Alamire Foundation in Leuven.
