The grant of CHF 30,000 aims to support restoration projects based on sustainable and ecological management with educational activities. The Foundation is particularly attentive to a project's capacity to promote works and to give new perspective to visits, with focus on raising awareness among the public about the protection of nature and the environment. Projects must be ambitious, innovative, and have a long-term vision beyond works funded by the prize.
The Prize is open to French and Swiss applications from public or private owners of a landscaped area in rural or urban areas that are open to visitors. A “landscaped area” defines any man-made or natural elements that form a garden, park, forest or agricultural land with landscape, ecological, heritage, artistic or social value. The Prize is based on two stages of assessment. The first, by the Terre & Humanisme Association, a pioneer in agroecology in France, assesses expertise. The association works with the Foundation to make an initial technical assessment. Several candidates are then preselected for presentation to the annual jury of six multidisciplinary members who examine the educational and cultural characteristics of the project.
